Soroptimist Intl. NVWV Sends Housewarming Gifts

North Shore Crisis Services Society is thrilled to acknowledge the unwavering support and kind generosity of the Soroptimist International of North and West Vancouver (“Soroptimist”). This past summer, their Local Love committee donated $800 in Walmart gift cards to help get her established along with gift baskets full of essentials that a young single mother of 2 would love for their new home. Their baskets included gifts of cash, new clothes, kid snacks, chocolates, bubble bath sets, towels, books, cosmetics, perfume, toys, and more. Soroptimist has supported our charity for over 30 years and we remain deeply grateful for their role in helping countless client-families successfully transition out of violence.

Our story with Farrah* began at SAGE Transition House, our women’s shelter for survivors of abuse. As she and her 2 boys settled in, our programs started working in tandem to create a tailored plan for her and her family. In addition to mental health support, she received income assistance, legal aid, and won custody of her children. After months of hard work, we were thrilled to present her with this tremendous housewarming gift.

Quoting Farrah, your support helped her stand on her own two feet. Receiving these wonderful gifts helped her feel remembered, cared for, and a part of our community. Your gifts significantly eased the process of relocating for the family and provided them with a strong foundation as they stepped into this exciting new chapter of their lives.

With her own place now, Farrah’s future is back in her hands. She now has more support from her parents who recently flew in from Iran to help with childcare and spend quality time as a family. Farrah has also enrolled in an employment program and is pursuing a technical career. When she emails us with updates, we are reminded of your generosity and kindness as well.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your partnership and trust in our work. We look forward to continuing our shared effort towards a safer and more compassionate North Shore for everyone.
