Abuse is the inappropriate use of power in relationships where an individual mistreats another person and imposes their will at any cost. It may be actions or threats that hurt you, family members, friends or someone you know. It may also include the threat of, or destruction of property, valuables or pets. The abuse may occur in relationships where the couple may be married, unmarried or the same sex.
